Inventec, VicOne, and Skymizer to Showcase GenAI Cybersecurity Solution for Smart Cockpits at Tokyo Automotive World

DETROIT and TOKYO VicOne, Inventec (TWSE: 2356), and Skymizer announced today their collaborations to deliver a robust in-car GenAI security solution for smart cockpits. The highlight is to secure the innovation of AI-powered cockpits from sensitive data leaks and addressing security risks while car users experience a better service from AI applications. In this collaboration, Inventec's AAOS IVI, powered by the latest Qualcomm SoC, will deliver an immersive in-vehicle experience with multi-screen support, high-resolution cameras, and premium audio; Skymizer will accelerate LLM (large language model) inference at the edge; and VicOne's new AI Guardian feature will be protecting GenAI-based applications from sensitive data leaks, phishing and unexpected response, to safeguard the automotive ecosystem.

With the growing adoption of generative AI (GenAI) across industries, applications such as content creation, operational efficiency improvement, and conversational services have become increasingly common. However, sensitive data involved is often recorded to deliver optimized services. In the automotive industry, AI is increasingly utilized in vehicles to offer more personalized value-added services, but the handling of sensitive data has sparked growing concerns over potential leaks and misuse. Also, user-unaware AI prompt injection, unsecure outputs, vulnerable or unsecure third-party tools and APIs will also pose risks to both vehicle owners and manufacturers.

VicOne's AI Guardian, a new feature added to VicOne's Smart Cockpit Protection solution, is a purpose-built small AI model and advanced in-vehicle cybersecurity solution aiming to protect GenAI-based applications from sensitive data leaks. By addressing critical vulnerabilities such as AI prompt injection, unsecure outputs, and unsecure third-party plug-ins, AI Guardian provides comprehensive coverage against the OWASP top risks for LLM applications. Whether the LLM is deployed in the cloud or at the edge, it ensures secure protection, empowering individuals to safeguard their data and maintain the integrity of their smart cockpits.

Inventec's AAOS IVI (Android Automotive OS in-vehicle infotainment), powered by the latest Qualcomm SoC, delivers an immersive in-vehicle experience with multi-screen support, high-resolution cameras, and premium audio. Featuring a cutting-edge integrated chip, the system ensures rapid data processing and seamless operation for both drivers and passengers. With a powerful AI processing unit, it supports a wide range of AI algorithms and frameworks, providing automotive manufacturers with a flexible development platform in intelligent driving technologies.

Skymizer plays a key role in the collaboration by providing advanced AI acceleration technology tailored to the demands of in-vehicle AI workloads, enhancing the capabilities of Inventec's IVI system. Skymizer's EdgeThoughtLPU (language processing unit) IP, developed through a software-hardware co-design approach, delivers scalable and highly efficient local LLM inferencing, optimizing performance for next-generation automotive applications.

"Our collaboration with Inventec and Skymizer underscores the importance of cybersecurity in the software-defined vehicle (SDV) era," said Max Chen, CEO of VicOne. "With AI Guardian, we bring comprehensive protection to in-vehicle LLM AI systems, ensuring not only data security but also the security of AI-powered intelligent cockpits."

"Since signing the MOU with VicOne in last November, this marks the first tangible outcome of our collaboration, and we couldn't be more excited," said Lino Li, VP of Inventec Automotive Electronics BU. "With VicOne enhancing security and Skymizer driving efficiency, their contributions elevate our IVI system to set a new bar in smart cockpit innovation."

William Wei, CMO and EVP of Skymizer said, "We are thrilled to collaborate with Inventec and VicOne to provide the acceleration needed to overcome challenges in integrating LLMs into vehicles as Edge AI devices. This partnership ensures that advanced AI capabilities can be seamlessly integrated into smart vehicles without compromising security or efficiency."
